Nuts & Bolts

  • We will not have school on Monday, May 30th.

  • Our field trip to the zoo will be this FRIDAY, May 27th. Kids will need to bring a sack lunch if you didn't order one from the lunch room. Those who ordered lunches, your student does not need to bring anything :)

  • Please make sure your student charges their computer every night. We have been getting lax about charging and many students are not prepared for learning.

  • Kids should bring a full water bottle to school everyday as well as a healthy snack. Please continue to have them dress in layers until we know the weather has officially warmed up.

What to Work on at Home

To keep your student practicing the skills we are working hard on at school, please consider having them work on:

Reading- 20-30 minutes/day.

IXL Math Practice- Please have your child work on IXL: AA or BB at home for 10 mins a day. If your student participates in Khan Mappers at school, this is a great option for them to work on for 10-15 minutes per day at home!


Class this Week

Math- We are working on Unit 7: Two Dimensional Shapes and Perimeter. In this unit, students will reason about shapes and their attributes, with a focus on quadrilaterals. They will solve problems about the area and perimeter of shapes.

Reading- This week we will focus on tying all of our reading strategies together. Groups will be working on reading stories and creating plot mountains to sequence events, character maps to work on traits and inference charts to work on predictions!

Writing- Students will begin to work on writing their own version of a fairy tale.

Upcoming Dates to Know: 

May 25: Late Start- Arrive at 9:20.
May 27: Field Trip to Potowatomi Zoo. Kids will need to bring a sack lunch.
May 30: NO SCHOOL. Memorial Day.
June 1: Late Start- Arrive at 9:20.
June 8: School Picnic!
June 9: Half Day. Dismiss at 12:09.
June 10: Last Day of School! Half Day- Dismiss 12:09.

The Student Council invites you to fill Santa’s sack to help those less fortunate by donating to Toys for Tots. Classrooms will be collecting donations Monday, December 6 through Friday, December 10. The two classes that bring in the most donations will receive a pizza party with Silver Beach Pizza courtesy of Chris Thompson at The Mitten Insurance Agency.
