April 18 - 22

April 18th - April 22nd

This week we will be focusing on the Appreciation of Beauty and Excellance. We want to invite your student to wear maize & blue on Mondays to celebrate the Positivity Project. To check this out at home, you can access the P2 for Families at https://posproject.org/p2-for-families/  The password is P2.

Nuts & Bolts

  • Please make sure your student charges their computer every night. We have been getting lax about charging and many students are not prepared for learning.

  • Book Fair this week. Students can shop at their recesses or you can shop as a family on Monday, April 18th from 5:30-7:30 in the Brown Media Center.

  • Miss B's last day is Friday, April 22nd. We are SO sad to see her go. If your student would like to make her something special to bring in, I let them know that was fine. Many of them wanted to show their gratitude for her support this year.

  • Kids should bring a full water bottle to school everyday as well as a healthy snack. Please continue to have them dress in layers until we know the weather has officially warmed up.

What to Work on at Home

To keep your student practicing the skills we are working hard on at school, please consider having them work on:

Reading- 20-30 minutes/day.

Spelling- Students will receive spelling words on Monday and take their test on Friday. Please make sure they study their words every night.

IXL Math Practice- Please have your child work on IXL: T at home for 10 mins a day and or  Khan Mappers

Class this Week

Math- We will start Unit 6: Measuring length, time, liquid, volume, and weight. In this unit, students generate and represent length measurement data in halves and fourths of an inch on line plots. They learn about and estimate relative units of measure including weight, liquid volume, and time, and use the four operations to solve problems involving measurement.

Reading- This week we will focus on our expression and fluency as we practice and present another round of Reader's Theater scripts! The kids love getting this time to read together and it helps them understand and use expression in such an authentic way!

Writing- Students will be recording their plays and starting to put everything together in WEVIDEO
