This week we will be focusing on Humor. We want to invite your student to wear maize & blue on Mondays to celebrate the Positivity Project. To check this out at home, you can access the P2 for Families at https://posproject.org/p2-for-families/  The password is P2. 


Nuts & Bolts

  • No School next Friday, April 1st.

  • On Thursday, March 31st, we will be going to the Planetarium for our first field trip. Then, we will celebrate March is Reading Month with a read in! Kids can bring a blanket, pillow, stuffy, snack and drink for the read in.

  • We are in need of snacks for kids who forget them. A box of individually wrapped cheezits, goldfish, granola bars, etc. are all wonderful options. Thank you in advance :)

  • Keep your kids in layers! This spring weather can be tricky!

  • Kids should bring a full water bottle to school everyday as well as a healthy snack.

What to Work on at Home

To keep your student practicing the skills we are working hard on at school, please consider having them work on:

Reading- 20-30 minutes/day.

Spelling- Students will receive spelling words on Monday and take their test on Friday. Please make sure they study their words every night.

IXL Math Practice- Please have your child work on  Khan Mappers  for 10-15 minutes per day at home!


Class this Week

Math- We will start Unit 6: Measuring length, time, liquid, volume, and weight. In this unit, students generate and represent length measurement data in halves and fourths of an inch on line plots. They learn about and estimate relative units of measure including weight, liquid volume, and time, and use the four operations to solve problems involving measurement.

Reading- This week we will focus on Unit 10: Making Inferences. We will be using our detective skills to find what the text says, what we know about the text, and form inferences about our characters or plot. 

Writing- Students finished Informational Writing. They will now be able to free write this week using figurative language

Upcoming Dates to Know: 

March 30: Late Start. School begins at 9:20.
March 31: Field Trip to Upton's Planetarium and Read in!
April 1: No School- Start of Spring Break.
April 4-8: No School- Spring Break.

Half Day November 19th and NO SCHOOL November 24-26. The Student Council invites you to fill Santa’s sack to help those less fortunate by donating to Toys for Tots. Classrooms will be collecting donations Monday, December 6 through Friday, December 10. The two classes that bring in the most donations will receive a pizza party with Silver Beach Pizza courtesy of Chris Thompson at The Mitten Insurance Agency.
